Community

  1. Properly, common possession or enjoyment; as a community of goods. “It is a confirmation of the original community of all things.” Locke
  2. A society of people, having common rights and privileges, or common interests, civil, political or ecclesiastical; or living under the same laws and regulations. This word may signify a commonwealth or state, a body politic, or a particular society or order of men within a state… and it is often used for the public or people in general, without very definite limits.
  3. Commonness; frequency

"This is the duty of our generation as we enter the twenty-first century -- solidarity with the weak, the persecuted, the lonely, the sick, and those in despair. It is expressed by the desire to give a noble and humanizing meaning to a community in which all members will define themselves not by their own identity but by that of others.”—Eli Wiesel

As we are counting the days until school is out for the summer , Good Samaritan Mission  is working on preparing for children to go back to school.  Last year we were blessed with over 800 children.  The evangelism teams were outstanding.  We were able to spend one-on-one time with each child by providing manicures, teaching dental education, dental exam, haircuts, face painting, balloons, snacks, and lunch. Each child left with a book bag filled with school supplies, a gift certificate for shoes, a hygiene supply bag, feeling God’s love, and ready for school.  This is all free to underprivileged children in the Balm, Wimauma, and Ruskin area.

This year we are prayerfully asking for donations so we can order book bagbags, gift certificates, and prepare for the event.  We can purchase book bags through “Somebody Cares Tampa Bay” for $8.50 filled with school supplies.  We are expecting over 800 children this year.  Please mark in the memo on your donation: Back to School Outreach.

Many Volunteers are needed for collecting and packing hygiene and school supplies (before the event), distributing backpacks, manicures, hairstylists, face painting, evangelism teams, and those with a heart to serve.  If you are interested in helping to organize this event or would like to help in any way please email or call.
