Gratitude

An emotion of the heart, excited by a favor or benefit received; a sentiment of kindness or good will towards a benefactor; thankfulness. Gratitude is an agreeable emotion, consisting in or accompanied with good will to a benefactor and a disposition to make a suitable return of benefits or services, or when no return can be made, with a desire to see the benefactor prosperous and happy. Gratitude is a virtue of the highest excellence, as it implies a feeling and generous heart, and a proper sense of duty. “The love of God is the sublimest gratitude": Paley

"Gratitude is the memory of the heart."—Jean Baptiste Massieu, in a letter to Abbe Sicard.

The inside of "La Casita" has undergone significant remodeling in order to be used as a shabby-chic store.  Here you may find displayed items that have either been donated for sale or crafted by Mission volunteers and clientele, all in suport of the ministry of the Good Samaritan Mission.  The items featured in this boutique are a clear example of the gratitude expressed by volunteers (in regards to the work of the Mission) and clients (in regards to the help given them).

Speaking of gratitude, an amazing thing happened the other day.  A bus filled with 27 people from Plant City dropped by the Mission.  Due to the weather, they were unable to work.  But, they knew about the Gratitude program.  So they asked for an opportunity to work around the Mission.  They did so, and soon left with bags filled with food and hygiene products.  While they were working, another 11 showed up and requested the same chance.  They also worked and left with filled hands.  The gratitude in their faces was evidence of how well this program is working.
